District PTO Calander of Events & Event Highlights

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) of Howell Public schools offers important supports and opportunities to our school district. The PTO's provide family events, school spirit, special funding for school and staff projects just to name a few. There are numerous events that take place each month, some events are open to the public and some events CLOSED. ** Please note that when a event is marked OPEN the public is welcome and the proceeds from that event will support that schools PTO.  We hope you enjoy viewing some of the events made available by our PTO's. ** For school PTO's web-sites please go to our "Quick Links" page to link to web-sites.

Voyager Celebrates
1st Annual Pumpkin Run

During the month of October Voyager Elementary held their 1st Annual Pumpkin Run fundraiser. The Pumpkin Run replaced the standard catalog fundraisers that have been done in the past.  A letter was sent home to all the Voyager families explaining how they could sponsor their child in the Pumpkin Run for whatever amount they wished.  The students were asked to gather as many pledges as possible and a friendly grade level competition added to the fun. The Student with the most pledges from each grade won a prize. On October 28th, the 1st Annual Pumpkin Run took place at Voyager Elementary on the soccer field. Every 15 minutes the classes rotated for their time to fulfill their commitment and to have fun too. Every class ran and some teachers also joined in.  Mrs. Kelly a second grade teacher even ran in heels! After the run the students gathered for a picture and snack before returning to work.  Together the families of Voyager raised $8419. for their school without having to sell a thing. The students at Voyager benefited in many ways, they learned teamwork, received some good healthy exercise, had fun and helped earn money for future activities and events at their school.

Challenger Elementry PTO Hosts 1st Annual "Trunk-n-Treat"

It was a cold and calm night on October 23, 2008. This was the night that Challenger Elementary would hold their 1st Annual Trunk-n-Treat.

Kindergarten Teachers, Michelle Devine & Elizabeth Moyle planned the event, while our PTO and other staff members volunteered and helped carry out plans for the night.

Mrs. Devine, Mrs. Moyle, the Challenger PTO, Staff Members, and families that attended felt extremely fulfilled at the end of the evening. The event was a HUGE success. Everyone was smiling and when it was over...it was evident that families and staff had TONS of fun! We are estimating over 400 people were present between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on this night.

The days continue to bring several positive comments from parents, kids, staff members, and others that attended.

This event would not have been possible without cash and supply donations from the following sponsors:

The Hutchings PTO had an amazing turn out for their Cold Stone night,  on Thursday October 16th. There were 9 teachers that volunteered to help create yummy treats for the families at Hutchings. Our School PTO received 30% of the proceeds. We love seeing our students and they enjoyed watching their teachers make ice cream!
* A special Thanks to Cold Stone Creamery for making this event possible!
