What is a Hurricane Hustle?
It was Hutchings Elementary PTO'S attempt to do away with the catalogue fundraisers of the past and highlight a fun, healthy and worthwhile event that
everyone in the Hutchings family could benefit from. The Hutchings "Hurricane Hustle" was born. The "Hurricane
Hustle" is a donation sponsored event where students and staff "Hustle" or take a brisk walk around the Hutchings
school grounds. With the weather forecast looking grim for Friday October 23rd everyone Hustled
to move the event forward to Wednesday, October 21st. It was a $14,777
overwhelming success!
Donations
were collected over the course of 4 weeks, a paypal account was set up to allow family and friends from out of town ways to
donate and each donation was 100% tax deductible with tax deductible receipts given out by the PTO.
There were incentives offered in stages
to the students and staff for their participation.
- Everyone received a "Hurricane Hustle" Braclet for participating
- $25 donation earned a Water bottle
- After $50 in donations and every $25 donation after, the students name was entered into a drawing for a IPOD Nano
A 3rd grader broght in the most in
donatons with $325 and earned a $100 Meijers gift card and VIP Front Row seating for her and a friend to ALL school events for the 2009/2020 school year.
Ms. Benear's class
had the top classroom earnings with $1059.40 and will receive a special classroom party!
The student that collected the most donations for each classroom
each received a $15 gift certificate to be used on Hutchings Spirit Wear or at the Hutchings Book Fair.
In addition, Kohls Cares for Kids donated $500 and sent Kohls
volunteers to help at this event.
The "Hurricane Hustle" was a Hugh success and allows Hutchings to keep funding programs, events and fun
activities for our students.
